Lupe Fiasco já foi citado em nosso blog por parecer estar falando contra o sistema, o governo e a elite. A música e vídeo de seu single de 2011 “Words I Never Said” (lyrics abaixo), falam sobre a covardia do silêncio diante da opressão do sistema, como o ataque de falsa bandeira, o aspartame encontrado em alimentos diet e outros assuntos já bem discutidos. Após seu lançamento, o vídeo foi altamente criticado pela mídia por suas letras “anti-Obama”. Lupe, também em 2011, apareceu em diversos programas de TV, inclusive na CBS, chamando o presidente americano de terrorista.

Para mim, o maior terrorista nos Estados Unidos da América é Obama. Eu estou tentando lutar contra o terrorismo que está causando as outras formas de terrorismo. Você sabe que a causa de terroristas é o que o governo dos EUA permite acontecer. As políticas externas que temos aplicado em diferentes países é o que inspira as pessoas a se tornarem terroristas”.

Por incrível que pareça, Lupe Fiasco se apresentou na festa de posse do presidente Obama (é claro que isso não iria dar certo). Na apresentação, Lupe abriu seu set com o single “Words I Never Said”, em que ele critica Obama pelo silêncio do presidente após o bombardeio da Faixa de Gaza. Ele cantou a canção sem parar por mais de 20 minutos.

“Limbaugh é um racista, Glenn é um racista, a Faixa de Gaza estava sendo bombardeada, Obama não disse  m**** nenhuma”.

O rapper também critica a guerra contra o terror e questiona os ataques do 11 de setembro na música, perguntando “11/9, WTC7, eles realmente implodiram”? Depois, um membro da equipe se aproximou do artista para pedir-lhe que mudasse as músicas. O rapper continuou com suas letras e seu microfone foi cortado, as luzes foram diminuídas, mas sua banda continuou a tocar mesmo assim. Quando Lupe Fiasco se recusou a parar, os seguranças o forçaram a deixar o palco para a indignação de grande parte do público. Assista ao vídeo do incidente (abaixo).

 

O organizador do evento divulgou um comunicado na segunda-feira (21 de janeiro), dizendo que as letras anti-Obama não foram a razão pela qual ele foi expulso para fora do palco, mas o fato de ele repetir a música várias vezes. “Somos firmes defensores da liberdade de expressão e discurso político livre. Isso não foi por causa de suas opiniões”, dizia a declaração.

Será mesmo que ele não foi expulso por causa das letras da música? Será mesmo que o presidente e sua equipe são a favor da liberdade de expressão? Será que teria acontecido o mesmo com o rapper se ele estivesse cantando “Lady Marmalade”? Não estamos dizendo que concordamos com tudo que Lupe Fiasco faz e diz, mas esse acontecimento só corrobora a ideia de que esse cara realmente não é um “puppet”.
